"St Mary's is growing a welcoming and inclusive church

for the whole community and the whole of life"

St Mary's Church is situated in the north-east of St Albans at the junction of Sherwood Avenue and Marshalswick Lane. It was built in the mid 1950s and became a parish church in 1972 when it was consecrated by Bishop Robert Runcie.

The Parish is currently in vacancy (since October 2020) but we are looking forward to welcoming our new Vicar, the Revd Kate Pearson, in early September 2021.

We have been gradually easing restrictions since July and have reverted to our original pattern of services. Anyone is welcome to our Sunday Services - just turn up!

Our church is here to serve the community of Marshalswick. We are always pleased to explore the possibility of baptism, confirmation and marriage. We also offer a service of blessing to those married in a Registry Office, and are happy to discuss church weddings for those who have been married before.  We are also here to help at difficult times, to offer prayers for those who are ill and to help with the planning and leading of funerals in church or at the Crematorium or Cemetery.
